What is our Bi-National Region?
Our bi-national region - better know as the Bi-National Golden Horseshoe - encompasses the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, the Niagara Region, and Buffalo-Niagara. It boasts an economy of $400 billion and a population of 9 million. Over $84 billion worth of bi-national trade is processed at our ports. The region includes an extensive infrastructure that consists of five major highways, four class-one railroads, and three international airports.
The Buffalo Niagara Partnership is committed to strengthening the region's bi-national footprint. With a variety of industries contributing to the growth of the region, the economic relationship between Canada and the United States is only projected to increase. Companies on both sides of the border can use the resources of the Partnership - including the Cross-Border Business Network, CanAm Council, and Strategic Agreements - to navigate the numerous international business opportunities available. Learn more about these opportunites below.
The CanAm Council is a cross-industry collaboration of business leaders focused on developing our region’s bi-national economy. The Council seeks to eliminate barriers related to the international border and strengthen ties with the Southern Ontario business community to further develop our bi-national economy.
The Partnership has entered into strategic agreements with two Southern Ontario Chambers of Commerce: the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce. These agreements provide Partnership members with reciprocal associate membership in both Southern Ontario Chambers and give companies the opportunity to collaborate with a wider network of business professionals across the border.
